Point Cook and Sanctuary Lakes are ten minutes from our door, and that is where most of our pool fencing goes. If you are building with a pool out the back, you need a compliant barrier before the pool can be filled and the certificate lodged with Wyndham City Council. We fit frameless glass because it is the fence that keeps the yard feeling open.
The rest is shower screens and mirrors for the newer homes, swapping the builder-grade framed screens out for frameless, and balustrades for two-storey homes with a balcony or a void.
Passing once is not the end of it. Wyndham wants pools and spas registered and the barrier inspected every four years, so the fence has to keep passing long after we have gone. We install to AS 1926.1-2012, we know the 1200mm, 100mm and 900mm rules the inspector measures, and we build it to pass first time.

Can you install the fence before the landscaping is done?
Yes, and it is usually better to. We core drill into the concrete or paving, or pour footings while the ground is still soil, so the fence is in before the pool is filled and the garden can go in around it.
Will the fence pass the Wyndham council inspection?
That is what we build it for. The inspector checks height, gaps, the non-climbable zone and the gate, so we install to AS 1926.1-2012 and check each of those ourselves before we leave.
